The Los Angeles Angels are in the process of choosing a new manager, with Ron Washington and Buck Showalter reportedly among the final candidates under consideration.
Angels' general manager Perry Minasian has professional ties to both Washington and Showalter from his time as a scout with the Texas Rangers and the Atlanta Braves.
Washington, despite having led the Texas Rangers to the World Series in 2010 and 2011, is renowned for a number of off-field issues, including an admission of infidelity and cocaine use.
Showalter brings over 22 years of management experience to the table, having managed several Major League Baseball teams and boasting a record of 1,727-1,665, alongside four Manager of the Year awards.
Despite the pressure to appoint a new manager as the Angels joined Padres, Brewers and Astros as the only four MLB teams without one, Minasian insists they are not rushing the process, and is focused on finding the 'right person'.
