Overview
- A tall lorry struck the Marston Lane (Marston Junction) railway bridge in Bedworth on Thursday, June 11, causing part of the structure to collapse and blocking all lines between Nuneaton and Rugby.
- Warwickshire Fire and Rescue attended the scene and reported no people trapped or injured after the collision.
- The closure has produced major disruption across the West Coast Main Line, affecting Avanti West Coast, London Northwestern, Lumo and other services with cancellations, long delays and diversions via Birmingham.
- Train operators have deployed rail replacement buses, accepted affected tickets on alternative services and issued refunds and travel advice while Network Rail’s engineers inspect the bridge.
- Network Rail says the damage is significant and reopening times are uncertain, which could extend disruption into the evening and potentially into Friday, posing knock-on delays for long-distance and regional journeys.
