Loris Karius Joins Schalke 04 in Bid to Revive Career

The former Liverpool goalkeeper signs with the struggling German club after being without a team for six months.

Loris Karius, 31, has joined Schalke 04 on a contract running until the end of the season after being without a club since leaving Newcastle United last summer.
Schalke 04, currently in Germany's second division and facing financial difficulties, signed Karius without a transfer fee.
Karius is expected to compete for the starting goalkeeper position but will initially serve as a backup to Justin Heekeren.
The goalkeeper is best known for his errors in the 2018 Champions League final with Liverpool, after which his career saw limited opportunities and playing time.
Schalke simultaneously announced the departure of goalkeeper Ron-Thorben Hoffmann, who will return to Eintracht Braunschweig, Schalke's upcoming league opponent.
