Overview

• The attack erupted around 10 a.m. on June 14 in the Loon-Plage migrant camp near Dunkerque, leaving one migrant dead and five injured.
• Two of the wounded are in critical condition, including a two-year-old child airlifted to Lille for treatment.
• Authorities have detained a man and a 17-year-old minor on suspicion of involvement in the shooting.
• Twenty shell casings were recovered and prosecutors have opened organised gang murder, attempted murder and weapons-possession investigations.
• Local aid group Salam estimates 1,500 to 2,000 migrants are in the Dunkerque area where 919 crossed the Channel on 14 boats most recently.
