Overview
- On June 30, Lehmann signed off his last sports block on ZDF’s 19:00 “heute” newscast with “Ich habe fertig,” capping a 40-year tenure.
- He began his ZDF career in 1985 as a Bonn studio editor and later led the Hessian studio before moderating the ZDF-Mittagsmagazin.
- In 2018 he became presenter of the prime-time “heute” sports segment and was appointed editorial director of “SPORTtäglich” in March 2022.
- Colleague Mitri Sirin hailed him as a “quasi eine ZDF-Institution” and predicted he would devote much of his retirement to following Borussia Dortmund.
- Born in Dortmund and living in Heidelberg with his two daughters, the 65-year-old plans to enjoy his retirement at the Borussia Dortmund stadium.
