Dmitry Feld, a longtime coach and executive for USA Luge, has died at 68 due to complications from leukemia.
Feld, who was born in the former Soviet Union and moved to New York in 1979, had been with USA Luge for nearly four decades.
He had served as the organization's marketing manager since 2000, after years as a coach and communications staff member.
Beyond his work with USA Luge, Feld was known for his community involvement, including raising funds for war-torn Ukraine and organizing a local festival in Lake Placid.
Feld had been dealing with health issues since around Christmas, and his condition had worsened in recent days.
