Longtime Tennessee Democrat Roy Herron Dies From Jet Ski Injuries at 69

Former Tennessee lawmaker Roy B. Herron died from injuries sustained in a jet ski accident at the age of 69.
Herron served 26 years in the Tennessee House and Senate and chaired the state Democratic Party from 2013 to 2015.
Herron had been hospitalized since July 1 after colliding with another jet ski on Kentucky Lake, suffering internal bleeding and injuries to his arm and pelvis.
Herron was known for championing causes like healthcare access, education, victims' rights and environmental protection during his long career in public service.
Tributes poured in from political figures like former Vice President Al Gore, praising Herron's character, devotion to family and state, and lifetime of service.
