Overview
- Suffolk County police say a 13-year-old was allegedly photographed up her skirt around 2 p.m. at a Selden retail store as she looked for greeting cards.
- The girl's father confronted the man, who fled, and investigators later identified the suspect as Aqeel Ahmad, 53, of Selden.
- Detectives arrested Ahmad in his car in Selden around 6:30–6:40 p.m. Tuesday and charged him with unlawful surveillance and endangering the welfare of a child.
- Ahmad was held at the Sixth Precinct pending an expected arraignment in First District Court in Central Islip.
- Police urged anyone with information to contact the Sixth Squad as they probe for other victims, and Eastern Suffolk BOCES said Ahmad, a special education aide, has been placed on leave and barred from its properties.
