Overview

  • Hemanth Kumar Muneppa was taken into custody Thursday in Hicksville on grand larceny and illegal fortune-telling charges after bank employees reported suspicious activity during a $42,000 withdrawal by his client.
  • The 68-year-old victim initially paid $20,000 for services on July 3 and returned days later when Muneppa demanded the additional funds.

  • The alleged scheme involved sessions at Anjana Ji on South Broadway, whose website advertises services such as “evil spirit removal” and “love spell” casting.
  • Police are urging any other possible victims to contact the Nassau County Police Second Squad at 516-573-6200.
