Overview
- Rep. Jasmine Crockett told the House that Republicans, including Lee Zeldin, took contributions from “somebody named Jeffrey Epstein.”
- Federal filings show two $1,000 donations to Zeldin in April and August 2020 from a Manhasset physician named Jeffrey Epstein, more than a year after the financier’s 2019 death.
- Zeldin said the donor was a different Dr. Jeffrey Epstein, and the Long Island neurosurgeon said he has been inundated with calls but is largely unfazed.
- The doctor joked to the New York Post that he might donate to Crockett so people could say she also took money from Jeffrey Epstein.
- Pressed on CNN, Crockett said she never specified the infamous Epstein and that her team had quickly Googled the records, as Congress separately advanced a law now signed requiring the DOJ to release Epstein-related files.
