Long-Awaited 'Honey, I Shrunk the Kids' Reboot Starring Rick Moranis and Josh Gad Falls Apart

Josh Gad's attempt to revive the Honey, I Shrunk the Kids franchise for Disney+ has collapsed due to COVID-19 delays, budget issues, and scheduling conflicts.
The new sequel was meant to star Gad as Nick Szalinski, the now-grown son of Rick Moranis' Wayne Szalinski, who was set to reprise his original role.
Director Joe Johnston and producer David Hoberman were attached to the reboot, called Shrunk, which had been in development for Disney+.
Gad suggested fans express interest in the project to Disney in hopes of reviving it.
Gad's track record of getting TV spin-offs made for Disney+ is poor, as his live-action Beauty and the Beast prequel was previously canceled.
