Overview

  • The outbreak has hospitalized 62 people with 13 still in hospital.
  • Of the 66 confirmed cases, 43 are male and 23 are female, spanning ages 23 to 93 with 39 individuals aged 18–64 and 27 aged 65 or older.
  • The Middlesex-London Health Unit rates broader community risk as low and will publish weekly updates on case counts.
  • Health officials are conducting environmental testing of cooling towers, hot tubs and other water systems that can harbor Legionella, noting that heat and humidity may accelerate bacterial growth.
  • Property owners in the mapped southeast zone are being urged to inspect, clean and maintain water systems according to updated public health guidelines to prevent further infections.
