London’s Fall Art Season Elevates Public Art and Emerging Galleries Ahead of Frieze

New ownership alongside a weak market frames a season focused on discovery and public access.

Overview

  • Frieze Sculpture’s 13th edition is on view in Regent’s Park through 2 November under Fatoş Üstek’s theme In the Shadows, with performances, processions and curator-led walks.
  • The Gallery Season 5, titled It’s Not Easy Being Green, is displaying free climate-focused works across thousands of UK outdoor sites until 4 November and will extend to Brazil ahead of COP30.
  • Frieze London runs 15–19 October with a retained floor plan that places young galleries at the entrance and a new themed section, Echoes in the Present, curated by Jareh Das.
  • Several dealers that showed in 2024 are absent this year, as reports cite a 12% drop in global art sales in 2024 and a sharp profit fall at Hauser & Wirth.
  • Frieze’s chief executive says London and Paris could create a collector “Barbenheimer moment,” as Bloomberg reports Ari Emanuel’s Mari bought Frieze for about $200m.
