London Underground Strikes Begin Across All Lines After Talks Collapse

Walkouts follow failed 3 September talks over pay, fatigue, shorter hours rejected by TfL.

Overview

  • RMT’s rolling action starts Sunday 7 September, with little to no Tube service expected Monday to Thursday and services restarting after 8am on Friday 12 September.
  • The DLR will not run on Tuesday 9 and Thursday 11 September, while the Elizabeth line, Overground and buses continue but are expected to be heavily crowded.
  • Passengers are advised to complete Sunday journeys by 6pm, with the Bakerloo line closed all day and widespread disruption building across the network.
  • TfL says its pay offer is fair and affordable and states a cut to the contractual 35-hour week is neither practical nor affordable, with no further meetings scheduled.
  • Knock-on effects include restricted access for some operators, such as Thameslink not serving Farringdon before 7.30am Monday to Thursday and after 10.30pm on Monday and Wednesday, and Coldplay rescheduling two Wembley shows.
