London Tube and Rail Fares to Increase by 4.6% in March

Mayor Sadiq Khan says the fare hike aligns with national rail increases to secure funding for key transport projects.

The fare increase, effective March 2, 2025, raises Transport for London (TfL) fares by an average of 4.6%, matching national rail fare hikes.
Daily pay-as-you-go caps will rise by 40p to 70p, depending on travel zones, while bus and tram fares remain frozen at £1.75 for unlimited journeys within an hour.
The increase is intended to unlock nearly £500 million in government funding for future projects, including Superloop 2, Bakerloo line extensions, and other upgrades.
Sadiq Khan emphasized that freezing fares further would reduce revenue needed for TfL's long-term sustainability and capital investments.
Concession fares, including those for students and older adults, will remain unchanged, while some outer London fares will rise by as much as 15%.
