London Teen Convicted of Making Explosives After Cache Found in Bedroom

  • A jury at Inner London Crown Court on December 8 found Sakhile Ntsele, 18, guilty of eight counts of making explosive substances for unlawful purposes after an 11-day trial.
  • On November 24, he pleaded guilty to possession of ammunition without a certificate and to five counts of possessing firearms without a certificate.
  • Police discovered seven improvised explosive devices and five firearms with ammunition in his Wandsworth bedroom on October 27, 2024, after he assaulted a relative with a homemade sword.
  • Investigators reported hundreds of hours of online weapons tutorials on his phone and repeated purchases using a relative’s credit card, including steel balls and potassium nitrate under pseudonyms.
  • In May 2024 officers seized a homemade gun he had shown in videos, which tests found to be functional and dangerous, and earlier 2021 ammunition matters were incorporated into the case.
