London Mayor Backs Export of Scrapped 4x4s to Ukraine

Sadiq Khan and Ben Wallace ask Transport Secretary to enable donation of vehicles through scrappage schemes.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan has pledged to send 4x4s and other vehicles that would otherwise be scrapped under the Ulez scheme to Ukraine.
Khan and former Defence Secretary Ben Wallace have asked Transport Secretary Mark Harper to enable people to donate suitable vehicles to Ukraine through scrappage schemes.
Khan had previously blocked the export of non-compliant vehicles, citing legal reasons.
The Ulez scrappage scheme, which came into force in August, allows Londoners with non-compliant vehicles to claim up to £2,000 when their vehicles are scrapped.
Kyiv's mayor, Vitali Klitschko, had previously written to Khan suggesting the idea as part of the scrappage scheme.
