London, Ky., First Responders Rescue Wheelchair User From House Fire

City leaders publicly commended named responders for a high-risk interior rescue.

  • Police and firefighters were dispatched around 8:48 a.m. to a home on East 5th Street that was heavily filled with smoke, creating low visibility and hazardous conditions.
  • Responders located the resident in a bedroom already consumed by fire, lifted him from the flames, and carried him outside to waiting EMS.
