Overview

  • On July 11, the London Fire Brigade dispatched ten engines and around 70 firefighters to a flat fire on the 11th floor of a 17-storey block on Hillingdon Street in Walworth.
  • A woman was taken to hospital with injuries and two others received on-scene treatment as smoke prompted residents to keep their windows and doors closed.
  • In the early hours of July 12, about 150 firefighters, 25 engines, three turntable ladders and a fire boat battled a blaze at the Maypole Crescent industrial estate in Erith.
  • The Erith fire engulfed a warehouse, diggers and vehicles at a site housing roughly 20 businesses, with plumes of smoke visible across southeast London.
  • Both blazes have been contained without fatalities and resources have been stood down as safety advisories remain and inquiries into the causes continue.
