London Couple Retrieves Stolen Jaguar Using AirTag After Police Delay

They used Apple’s Find My network to locate the vehicle in Chiswick after officers told them to call back if they required assistance.

Thieves nabbed this Jaguar e-Pace despite it having two immobilizing devices. Luckily, it also had an AirTag.

Overview

  • Mia Forbes Pirie and Mark Simpson discovered their Jaguar E-Pace missing from outside their Brook Green home on June 3 and tracked it with a hidden AirTag.
  • The Metropolitan Police said the investigation is ongoing and officers met the couple on June 10 to collect evidence based on their tracking data.
  • When presented with the car’s real-time location, officers advised the couple to report back if they needed help rather than dispatch a patrol immediately.
  • The owners found the £60,000 SUV parked on a residential street, then worked with their security provider to disable an aftermarket immobilizer and reclaim the vehicle.
  • Official figures show fewer than 1% of the capital’s 33,530 vehicle thefts in 2024 resulted in charges or cautions, prompting more victims to rely on personal trackers for recovery.
