Overview

• Twelve Maoist cadres, including nine with bounties totalling ₹28.5 lakh, surrendered in Dantewada on July 9, bringing the campaign’s total to 1,005 since June 2020.
• Among the latest to surrender were two divisional committee members and other high-level operatives previously involved in attacks on security forces.
• Cadres cited growing factionalism, harsh jungle conditions and the hollow nature of Maoist ideology as reasons for abandoning arms.
• The Lon Varratu drive offers ₹50,000 in immediate aid plus skill training, agricultural land, housing and healthcare support for reintegration.
• Of the 1,005 surrendered cadres, 813 are men and 192 are women from Dantewada, Sukma, Bijapur and Narayanpur districts.
