Overview
- On June 1, LJP(RV) passed a unanimous resolution urging president Chirag Paswan to contest the October-November Bihar Assembly elections from an unreserved constituency.
- Paswan has told party leaders he is prepared to resign as Union Minister for Food Processing Industries if the survey shows his candidacy will boost the party’s and NDA’s performance.
- Arun Bharti, the party’s Bihar in-charge, said grassroots workers view Paswan as a pan-Bihar leader capable of uniting diverse communities under his “Bihar First, Bihari First” vision.
- Paswan has explicitly ruled out seeking the chief minister’s post and endorsed Nitish Kumar as the NDA’s CM candidate for the state polls.
- A ‘Nav Sankalp Mahasabha’ in Ara on June 8 will serve as the platform to formalise his candidacy and fine-tune seat-sharing talks within the NDA.
