• Lois Logan, a Loughborough University student and former showjumper, made her race-riding debut in the Markel Magnolia Cup at Goodwood, claiming fifth place.
• The charity race, now in its 2025 edition, was won by Markel International underwriter Sophie Forsyth and has directed this year’s proceeds to the King’s Trust International.
• Her mother, broadcaster Gabby Logan, recorded a peak heart rate of 160 beats per minute while watching her daughter’s performance from the sidelines.
• Logan prepared for the five-furlong sprint with early-morning training sessions at Andrew Balding’s Kingclere yard in the weeks leading up to the race.
• Following her debut, she has committed to return to Balding’s yard for further riding opportunities as she balances race riding with her showjumping career.
