Local Outlets Republish Stacker Rankings of the Coldest Novembers by State

The retrospective lists use NOAA’s long-run climate records to highlight past statewide cold months rather than any new 2025 records.

Overview

  • Regional sites including KRDO, KVIA, KESQ, KYMA, and KTVZ ran the Stacker compilations on Nov. 10–11, drawing on NOAA’s National Centers for Environmental Information data back to 1895.
  • The state rankings rely on statewide average monthly temperature, and each entry reports the average, the statewide monthly high and low, and total precipitation.
  • Colorado’s coldest November was 1929 with a 26.1°F statewide average, while Texas’s coldest was 1976 at 47.8°F.
  • California’s coldest November was 1994 at 42.9°F, and Arizona’s was 2000 at 43.8°F.
  • Oregon’s coldest November was 1985 with a 28.5°F statewide average temperature.
