Local Ceasefire Ends as Shelling Resumes Near Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Plant

An IAEA-facilitated repair pause enabled restoration of two external power lines to the plant.

Overview

  • Zaporizhzhia NPP communications director Evgenia Yashina said the repair-related "regime of silence" ended once the second line was commissioned and Ukrainian forces restarted fire near Enerhodar and the station.
  • Strikes are currently targeting the shoreline by Enerhodar, with no shelling reported inside the city proper.
  • Drones were observed over the city in the past day, and a Ukrainian drone fell on the grounds of the Kamenka-Dneprovskaya bus station without detonating, according to local officials.
  • External power was fully restored after the "Ferrosplavnaya-1" line was brought back on 8 November and the "Dneprovskaya" line was reconnected on 23 October.
  • Plant officials say having two high-voltage feeds significantly improves the facility’s electrical resilience.
