Overview
- LNR introduced 36 Class 730/2 trains on June 9, operating currently between Northampton and London Euston.
- The five-car units add 180 carriages, boosting capacity by 20% and providing 15,000 extra seats per day.
- Each train carries up to 633 passengers and includes charging points at every seat, intelligent air conditioning and improved accessibility.
- LNR managing director Ian McConnell called the fleet the cornerstone of the company’s £1 billion investment and Watford mayor Peter Taylor praised the trains for addressing local overcrowding concerns.
- LNR plans to extend the fleet to Nuneaton and additional stops later this year with full Trent Valley line service from Crewe to Euston scheduled by the end of 2026.
