Overview
- Lloyds Banking Group will close 14 branches across the UK this month, with nine Halifax outlets set to shut between June 2 and June 5
- The closures reflect a sharp decline in in-branch visits as over 20 million customers now use the group’s mobile banking apps
- By March 2026 Lloyds Group plans to withdraw 136 branches across its brands, including 61 Halifax sites
- Under Financial Conduct Authority rules customers will keep local cash access through more than 11 000 Post Office branches, 139 banking hubs and community bankers
- Customers affected by the June closures are being advised to switch to online or telephone banking, visit nearby group branches or use alternative channels
