Overview
- Lloyds Banking Group will close 49 branches across Lloyds Bank, Halifax and Bank of Scotland between January and October 2026.
- The latest Lloyds tranche comprises 26 Lloyds sites, 10 Halifax and 13 Bank of Scotland, leaving the group with 705 branches in total (359 Lloyds, 269 Halifax, 77 Bank of Scotland).
- NatWest will shut 20 high-street branches in October 2025, adding to this year’s wave of network reductions.
- Link said it is recommending 11 new banking hubs following the Lloyds announcement, and Lloyds stated all affected staff will be offered roles elsewhere.
- Banks attribute the cuts to changing customer habits and heavier app use, with Which? counting 6,522 UK branch closures since 2015 and NatWest also planning to axe 46 mobile branches in January.
