Lloyds Banking Group to Close 136 Branches Across UK by 2026

The closures include Lloyds, Halifax, and Bank of Scotland branches, driven by a shift to online banking services.

Lloyds Banking Group will shut 61 Lloyds, 61 Halifax, and 14 Bank of Scotland branches between May 2025 and March 2026.
The closures are attributed to increasing customer reliance on online and mobile banking, with over 20 million users of the group’s digital platforms.
All employees affected by the closures will be offered alternative roles within the company.
Customers can continue to access banking services through apps, telephone banking, Post Office locations, Banking Hubs, and other branches within the group.
Since 2015, over 6,000 UK bank branches have closed as part of a broader industry trend toward cost-cutting and digital transformation.
