Livret A and LDDS Yields Fall to 1.7% in August Cut

A biannual formula tied to sluggish inflation with falling interbank rates has trimmed tax-exempt yields on more than €600 billion in household deposits.

  • On August 1, the Livret A and LDDS rates dropped from 2.4% to 1.7% under the statutory semiannual recalculation.
  • The Livret d’épargne populaire rate will stand at 2.7% thanks to a government “coup de pouce,” above its 2.2% formula level.
  • The Compte épargne logement yield fell to 1.25% as two-thirds of the Livret A rate, and banks must set Livret Jeune at no less than 1.7%.
  • Savers with accounts at their €22,950 or €12,000 ceilings will forgo roughly €80 in interest per product over the next six months.
  • Deposits in these regulated savings books continue to finance SME lending by banks and long-term social-housing projects via the Caisse des Dépôts.
