Overview

• Yonston Vazquez, 31, was taken into custody in Mexico around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday after a nearly 16-month search with FBI assistance.
• He was extradited to the Bay Area that night and booked into Santa Rita Jail on two counts of homicide.
• Livermore police had identified him soon after the April 27, 2024 shootings inside a room at the La Quinta Inn on Southfront Road.
• The victims were identified as 26-year-old Lizabeth Murillo-Rodriguez of Oakland and 21-year-old Christopher Vera of Hayward.
• Investigators said he knew one victim, warned the public he was armed and dangerous, and noted the case was the city’s first two homicides of 2024.
