Overview
- Michigan State Police say a pipe bomb was discovered Sept. 24 at a public firearms range in Kinross Township, Chippewa County.
- Troopers arrived shortly after 10:30 a.m. and requested the Bomb Squad, which used a robot to inspect the device.
- Technicians confirmed the device was active and rendered it inert at the scene using remote tools.
- The range, located off South Gaines Highway near Shortcut Road about 30 miles north of the Mackinac Bridge, was briefly closed and has reopened.
