Live Pipe Bomb Neutralized at Upper Peninsula Gun Range as State Police Probe Continues

State police are asking anyone with information to contact the Sault Ste. Marie Post.

  • Troopers arrived shortly after 10:30 a.m. and requested the Bomb Squad, which used a robot to inspect the device.
  • Technicians confirmed the device was active and rendered it inert at the scene using remote tools.
  • The range, located off South Gaines Highway near Shortcut Road about 30 miles north of the Mackinac Bridge, was briefly closed and has reopened.
