• Opening Day saw Latin America’s Cardenales of Venezuela shut out Puerto Rico 5–0 and Summerlin South of Nevada rout Clarendon Hills 16–1.
• Panama defeated Australia 7–2, and Fairfield, Connecticut edged Lamar Little League of Richmond, Texas 1–0 to join the winners bracket.
• Puerto Rico, Illinois’ Clarendon Hills, Australia and Lamar all dropped to the losers bracket and must win their next games to stay in the tournament.
• Day 2’s slate on ESPN begins with Czechia vs. Japan at 1 p.m. ET and continues with Massachusetts vs. South Carolina, Chinese Taipei vs. Mexico and South Dakota vs. Pennsylvania.
