Overview

  • Defence and education ministries have allocated over €3.3 million to open nine regional drone training centres between September 2025 and 2028, beginning with sites in Jonava, Tauragė and Kėdainiai.
  • The programme targets 15,500 adults and 7,000 children for drone control and engineering instruction by 2028.
  • Age-specific curricula will see primary pupils learn to build and pilot simple models while secondary students design parts and operate advanced first-person-view (FPV) drones.
  • Instruction in primary and secondary schools will be provided by the Lithuanian Riflemen’s Union in conjunction with the Lithuanian Non-Formal Education Agency.
  • Officials present the initiative as a measure to strengthen civil resistance following recent suspected drone incursions from Belarus and growing regional security concerns.
