Overview
- The fire began just after midnight on Caerphilly Close in Dinas Powys, with a 12.09am call to South Wales Fire and Rescue Service.
- Within about eight minutes the end-of-terrace house was engulfed, leaving every room ruined and part of the roof collapsed.
- All six occupants escaped before firefighters arrived, and four children were taken to hospital for precautionary checks before being discharged.
- One daughter injured the ligaments in her ankle after jumping from the roof to escape.
- Crews from Penarth, Cardiff Central and Barry used breathing apparatus, two 45mm jets and a triple extension ladder, remained for about four hours, and a £3,500 GoFundMe is supporting the family as they stay with relatives.
