- Lionsgate has officially optioned the rights to King’s 1999 novel and appointed JT Mollner to write and direct the adaptation.
- Mollner, whose indie thriller Strange Darling won genre awards and whose script for The Long Walk opens Sept. 12, will lead the adaptation.
- Producers Roy Lee, Christine Romero, Chris Romero, Ryan Silbert, Andrew Childs and Nathan Kahane have joined the project.
- Studio executives Meredith Wieck and Pavan Kalidindi will oversee the film at Lionsgate, with Phil Strina negotiating the deal.
- The psychological horror novel centers on a nine-year-old girl’s solitary survival in the woods aided by hallucinations of Boston Red Sox pitcher Tom Gordon.
