• Detroit placed starting cornerback D.J. Reed on injured reserve, sidelining him for at least four games with the earliest eligible return on Nov. 9 against Washington.
• Medical evaluations identified a Grade 2/3 hamstring strain that does not require surgery, and Reed described initially fearing a much worse tear.
• To bolster depth, the Lions promoted safety Loren Strickland and linebacker Ty Summers to the 53-man roster and added cornerbacks Tre Flowers and Nick Whiteside to the practice squad.
