Linklaters Reports Record Year as Partner Profits Rise to £2.5m
Stronger U.S. and Asian practices, expanded partner ranks and new legal AI capabilities signal the firm's global push is lifting profitability.
Overview
- For the year to April 2026 Linklaters posted record revenue of about £2.47–£2.5 billion and pre-tax profit of £1.2 billion, with profit per equity partner rising roughly 11% to about £2.48–£2.5 million.
- The firm said growth was led by the U.S. and Asia, where regional profits jumped about 39% and 36% respectively, after a multi-year push that doubled U.S. revenue and quadrupled U.S. profit.
- Linklaters expanded its senior ranks and footprint during the year by electing 37 partners, making 12 lateral partner hires, opening offices in Shanghai and Singapore, and moving into a new global headquarters at 20 Ropemaker Street in London.
- Leadership pointed to strategic investments in legal technology as a driver, including the launch of an Applied Intelligence team, the hiring of dedicated AI lawyers and rollouts of agentic tools to boost delivery for clients.
- Firm leaders rejected recent merger reports and framed the results as validation of organic expansion, a trend that could prompt further cross-border hiring and more work on large mandates such as Sizewell C and corporate demergers.
