Overview
- Shots were fired through windows at homes on Ainthorpe Walk and Ballantine Street within minutes of each other around 9:55pm on September 16, about 700 yards apart.
- A man at the Ainthorpe Walk address suffered minor head injuries from shattered glass as his partner and young son remained unharmed, and police do not believe the family was the intended target.
- The Ballantine Street incident was a confirmed firearms discharge with no reported injuries, and a neighbor described seeing a masked rider on a motorbike and hearing two bangs about 30 seconds apart.
- Greater Manchester Police are treating the incidents as linked, have cordoned both scenes, increased local patrols, and launched forensic and CCTV inquiries led by North Manchester CID.
- Detectives are appealing for dashcam, CCTV, or doorbell footage and witness information via GMP on 101 or live chat quoting log 3500 of 16/09/25, with options to contact CID directly or Crimestoppers anonymously.
