Lindsey Vonn Prepares for First Downhill Ski Race in Six Years

The 40-year-old skiing legend returns to her specialty event at St. Anton after a recent comeback in the Super-G.

Lindsey Vonn is set to compete in the St. Anton downhill race on Saturday, her first downhill event since retiring in 2019.
Vonn recently returned to competitive skiing at the World Cup Super-G, finishing 14th in her first race in six years.
She holds the record for most World Cup downhill wins, with 43 victories, and is third on the all-time list for total World Cup wins with 82.
Critics, including former Swiss skier Pirmin Zurbriggen, have questioned Vonn’s decision to return at age 40, citing potential risks, but she has dismissed their concerns.
Vonn aims to qualify for next month’s World Championships in Saalbach and is scheduled to compete in additional races, including next week at Cortina d’Ampezzo, a course she has historically dominated.
