Overview
- Vonn posted a summer photo recap on Wednesday that included intimate vacation images — among them a pool kiss — and thereby confirmed a romantic relationship with French World Cup speed specialist Matthieu Bailet.
- Bailet is 30 and specializes in downhill and Super‑G; he has started in more than 100 World Cup races, while Vonn is 41 and one of alpine skiing’s most decorated athletes.
- Public speculation about the pairing dates back to May when the two were seen together in New York and People reported they were 'getting to know each other,' a thread the Instagram post now closes.
- The post drew visible reactions from friends and fellow athletes, including a playful comment from Bailet and congratulatory notes from peers such as Sloane Stephens.
- Vonn’s announcement arrives as she documents recovery from a severe crash at the February Olympic downhill in Cortina d'Ampezzo, after multiple surgeries and with another operation planned this autumn, and it may shape public interest and her support network during rehabilitation.
