Limited Edition Godzilla Figure Released as Film Nominated for Academy Award

The figure, based on the film Godzilla Minus One, coincides with the release of a black and white version of the film, part of a trend in de-colorized versions of films.

  • Super7 is releasing a limited-edition black and white figure of Godzilla, based on designs approved by the film’s director Takashi Yamazaki. The figure is over eight inches tall and 14 inches long and will be on sale for this week only.
  • Godzilla Minus One, the film the figure is based on, was the first-ever Japanese film to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Visual Effects.
  • The film has a black and white version, Godzilla Minus One/Minus Color, which is now in theaters for a limited time.
  • The black and white version of the film is part of a trend of de-colorized versions of films, which has been ongoing since the mid-2000s.
  • The film has been highly successful, crossing the $100 million mark worldwide and becoming the highest-grossing Japanese language film ever released in the United States.
