Lima’s Metro Line 1 Boosts Service With 3–4 Minute Peaks and Added Trips Through December

The ATU is expanding capacity to handle year‑end demand with additional reinforcements slated for December.

Overview

  • Weekdays now run 510 trips after 15 extra departures scheduled between 11 a.m.–5 p.m. and 8 p.m.–10 p.m.
  • Saturdays add 40 trips for a 510‑departure day with intervals of roughly 3–10 minutes depending on the hour.
  • Sundays add 38 trips, reaching 292 departures with headways of about 6–12 minutes.
  • Morning and evening peaks operate at roughly 3–4 minutes between trains across Line 1’s 26‑station corridor from Villa El Salvador to Bayóvar.
  • The reinforcement was coordinated by ATU with the MTC, OSITRAN and the Line 1 concessionaire, and a separate integrated Metropolitano fare change took effect on Nov. 1.
