Overview
- Since December 4, the Metropolitan Municipality of Lima controls eight former Rutas de Lima toll booths and has stopped charging drivers at those points.
- Reggiardo ruled out reintroducing tolls in the short term and said no charges will return until alternate routes exist.
- The city activated an operations plan that includes EMAPE-led road and bridge maintenance, new signage, mechanical assistance, cleaning, traffic control, SISOL emergency support, and reinforced police and municipal security.
- Municipal inspections reported gaps such as four inoperative cameras out of 55, a data center without access credentials, and expired fire extinguishers, with repairs underway.
- The municipality initiated legal action against Rutas de Lima over alleged irregularities and disputes the company’s costs, estimating monthly upkeep at 6–8 million soles versus the 25 million previously claimed.
