Lima Sets Free DNIe 3.0 Campaign Dates as Peru’s New ID Rolls Out

The upgraded card adds a cryptographic chip plus about 64 security elements, drawing scrutiny after a viral microtext anomaly.

Overview

  • RENIEC is issuing only the DNI electrónico 3.0 nationwide, replacing the blue and yellow formats for new issuances while older cards remain valid until expiry.
  • Rímac will hold a free DNIe day on Saturday, 20 September at Parque de la Marina from 9:00 a.m., with 480 slots and services that include issuance, renewal, updates, and duplicates.
  • San Martín de Porres set two remaining dates: 22 September at Urb. Mesa Redonda’s Parque Vencedores and 29 September at Agencia Infantas on Av. San Bernardo N.º 200, starting at 9:30 a.m.
  • Campaigns prioritize minors aged 1–17, adults 60 and over, and persons with disabilities who present a Conadis card or medical certificate, with minors required to attend with a parent and bring specified documents.
  • A TikTok video showing the microtext “Perública del Perú” on one DNIe 3.0 went viral, with some users arguing the irregularity is a deliberate anti-counterfeiting feature while others called it a printing error.
