Overview
- City and church organizers set operations for Sunday, Aug. 30, expecting at least 50,000 people at the Santuario del Centro Histórico de Lima and large pilgrim flows to Santa Rosa de Quives.
- The Pozo de los Deseos will be open from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and masses will run hourly from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., giving worshippers fixed time windows to enter and pray.
- Municipal planners will use two separate pedestrian circuits with defined entry and exit points so visitors to the Pozo enter via a provisional gate on the first block of avenida Tacna and leave by Jirón Conde de Superunda, while mass-goers follow a different route.
- Operational support includes more than 1,000 municipal agents, road closures on parts of avenida Tacna, coordination with the National Police, fire brigade and Ministry of Health, staff staged from 4:30 a.m., and distribution of over 2,000 printed letters and pens for petition-writing.
- Complementary programming includes a traditional dessert fair on Aug. 29–30 in the park before the temple and officials urge devotees to come on foot, choose a single circuit and follow staff directions to reduce crowding and speed movement through the sanctuary.
