Overview
- The Autoridad de Transporte Urbano (ATU) announced that passengers will have to present the Tarjeta Interoperable de Transporte (TIT) to enter Line 2 starting Wednesday, July 8.
- TITs go on sale from July 1 at ticket booths and vending machines in the five operating stations—Evitamiento, Óvalo Santa Anita, Colectora Industrial, Hermilio Valdizán and Mercado Santa Anita—priced at S/7.50 during service hours.
- Police officers, firefighters and people with a Conadis yellow disability card can obtain or renew the TIT for free at station booths.
- ATU says the cards are issued in user-specific types, include encrypted security keys to reduce fraud, and store validation, recharge and user-profile data.
- The rollout is an initial step toward a single-card system across Lima and Callao public transport and ATU has temporarily set validations to record but not charge trips so users will not need to recharge for Line 2 at launch.
