Lima Bus Line ‘La 50’ Halts SJL–Callao Service After Extortion Attacks

Extortion threats left the company without safety guarantees to continue service.

  • Other incidents included gunfire on a Nueva América bus in Independencia and attacks in SJL on Transporte Huáscar and Line 57 in Las Flores, with injuries reported.
  • Santa Catalina registered a fifth attack this year with a driver wounded at a fuel station in SJL as extortion complaints in Lima rose 54.5% from January to July, according to SIDPOL.
