Overview
- The Metropolitan Council approved an agreement authorizing EMAPE to take over full administration of the corridors following Rutas de Lima’s withdrawal and liquidation process.
- EMAPE’s mandate covers road safety, emergency response, traffic monitoring, routine and periodic maintenance, waste removal, and operation of project assets.
- The assignment spans Panamericana Norte from the Habich roundabout in San Martín de Porres to Santa Rosa in Ancón, and Panamericana Sur from the Javier Prado interchange in Santiago de Surco to Pucusana.
- Mayor Renzo Reggiardo said services will be financed by executing the concessionaire’s performance bond worth about $40 million, with proceeds placed in a trust.
- Authorities reiterated that users will not pay tolls and that the takeover will not add to the municipal budget, as EMAPE prepares to deploy Plan Verano 2026 for seasonal demand.
