Overview

• Officers responded just before 6 a.m. to reports of a nude man on Ventura Boulevard in Studio City and took the suspect into custody after he charged at them, the LAPD said.
• Video published by TMZ earlier showed the rapper walking at about 4 a.m. in white briefs and cowboy boots, speaking erratically and placing a traffic cone on his head.
• Lil Nas X, identified by a law enforcement source to NBC News as Montero Lamar Hill, was transported to a hospital for evaluation of a possible overdose and later booked in Van Nuys.
• He was arrested on suspicion of a misdemeanor offense related to battery or obstructing an officer; a source told NBC News an officer was punched twice during the encounter.
• Authorities have not determined whether substance use or a mental-health issue was involved, and representatives for the artist did not immediately respond to requests for comment; he was hospitalized earlier this year for partial facial paralysis.
